A fisherman's tale

Taken in the last light of the setting Zanzibar sun, it depicts two fisherman braving the open water in search of their next catch. In the fishing community of Zanzibar, not even nightfall can hinder the call of a day’s work.
The stark contrast of the complementary colors, orange in the sky and teal in the water, offers some sort of visual balance and when paired with the central placement of the solitary subject further intensifies the allure of this peaceful scene

Adapt And Thrive

Upon first glance everything seemed to be normal about this fellow but on closer inspection, I noticed the absence of an arm. (Oddly enough, he seemed to be the only one to have been successful in that morning’s hunt for a meal.) This very feature is what makes him one of my best subjects. It serves as a reminder that imperfections are not imperfections at all but rather a unique aspect of our character. Embrace your flaws, they tell your story

Wings On The Move

Instead of filling the frame with the subject as I usually try to, I opted to incorporate patterns into this shot while isolating my subject. I then went for black and white in post-processing for two reasons, 1. I was trying to avoid using colors as a crutch and instead draw attention to the subject through contrast in patterns 2. The monochromatic color scheme strips away distractions whilst invoking a rather dramatic feel to the image, adding a different perspective to the running cisticola

Scaly Explorer

The 55-250mm
lens at maximum focal length, supported by the
’sweet spoť of an f8 arpeture opening really does a great job at bringing out the immense detail of the intricate scales of the southern rock agama
(Scientific name: Agama atra). Lucky for me this shot was taken during mating season, which meant the males were
spotting the well known bright blue scale pattern,
making for a really detailed picture (even in monochrome!)
